The Beginning of Shintoism
What are the major beliefs of shintoism?
Shintoism teaches that supernatural beings, called Kami, live all objects. In this belief, there is a shrine ceremony to enter into this religion. The ritual cleansing to enter a shrine is washing your hands and the rinsing of your mouth. The symbol called torii or sacred gates are used for the entrance to these shrines. During the shrines ancestors are worshipped in homes. Shintoism believes that two gods created the world. They stood on a rainbow, stirred the water and created the islands of Japan. Shintoism and buddhism have connections in their beliefs.
Buddha is viewed as a Kami. The  four affirmations are traditions and family, love of nature, physical cleansliness, and Matsuri.
